Obama at the State of the Union (SOTU) in 2009:
"There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."
South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson famously  yelled "You lie!" during the address. The House of Representatives then formally censured Congressman Wilson, after he formally apologised.

The question is, was Wilson right for calling out Obama (obviously not by doing it during SOTU) on the question of illegal immigrants getting insurance coverage through ObamaCare?

According to the website, Roll Call it was reported that:

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC)
"The Senate’s bipartisan immigration working group split along party lines during a contentious budget vote to prevent illegal immigrants who receive legal status from receiving federal health benefits. The Senate early Saturday morning defeated the amendment to the budget resolution which would have put the Senate on record as opposing access to health care under Medicaid or the Affordable Care Act for undocumented immigrants who get a green card. The amendment, which failed 43 to 56, was offered by Senate Budget ranking member Jeff Sessions, R-Ala.
All Democrats — including gang members Dick Durbin of Illinois, Bob Menendez of New Jersey, Charles E. Schumer of New York and Michael Bennet of Colorado — opposed the amendment. They were joined by Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska.
All other Republicans — including immigration negotiators Marco Rubio of Florida, John McCain of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Jeff Flake of Arizona — supported the amendment."
Whilst the final immigration status will be discussed by the 'Gang of 8'. The vote on Saturday is a clear indicator that Obama, through his lapdogs, Durbin & Schumer are insistent on illegals being covered. In fact - unless Obama veto's or condemns this action from Senate Democrats, highly unlikely, then it is proof that Obama lied in 2009 at SOTU.

Maybe Joe Wilson was right after all??

Barack Obama, Ramallah 21st March 2013:
“The people of Palestine, Mr. President {Abbas}, who receive you today aspire to attain the simplest rights — the right to freedom, independence and peace, and look forward to that day to come in which they exercise normal and natural life over the land of the state of Palestine — the independent state of Palestine — along the borders of the 4th of June, 1967, with Jerusalem, the “Lady of the Cities,” as its capital, alongside the state of Israel.
Obama has informed the world that the official American policy is that Jerusalem would be the shared capital of Israel & Palestine.

Isn't that in contradiction with what he said to AIPAC back in 2008????

Barack Obama, Washington, D.C 4th June 2008:
“Let me be clear. Israel's security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive, and that allows them to prosper — but any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.”

To me, it is a poignant moment that Obama is in Israel at the moment.

No doubt that many overtures have been made and 'niceties will be said during his visit. The Israeli people will put on a great show and perhaps offer a little more respect than when Bibi last met Obama in the White House in a visit March 2010.

It was reported that following a permit from the Israeli government for settlements to be built in the city Ramat Shlomo, Jerusalem; Obama and Hillary Clinton were fuming and summoned Netanyahu to Washington to explain the decision.  When Bibi arrived, there was no welcome as is standard for a head of state, no cameras, press conference or photographs either. Clearly frustrated, Obama left in the middle of the meeting with Netanyahu to go have dinner with his wife and kids. Before leaving, Obama purportedly said to Bibi: "Call me when you are reading to talk substance". After waiting some time for Obama to  return, Netanyahu requested some food and water for his staff but were subsequently served non-kosher food(not conforming to dietary laws).

It would appear that the President has come along way since then. Obama 2008-2012 had a very specific goal when it came to peace. Rather than face the reality of Hamas and the failed leadership in Gaza; he decided to double down on Israel. He pressured Israel regarding settlement activity and all the while, giving a free ride to the Palestinians and Hamas. He also called for Israel to withdraw to the  1949 armistice lines in order to surrender all lands  to the Palestinian Authority, refused to acknowledge that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and continues to delete any reference to that being the case.

On finances and ammunition, with thanks to AIPAC and the tremendous bipartisan support from U.S. Congress, Israel were supported. Obama can also take some credit but he was NOT the point man.

The reality is that every leader comes into a job with their solution to solve every crisis/issue under the sun.

We are all shaped by events. In 2000 (pre-war on terror) George W. Bush promised a humble foreign policy with no nation building. He had criticized the Clinton-Gore Administration for being too interventionist:
"If we don't stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, then we're going to have a serious problem coming down the road. And I'm going to prevent that.

We all know what happened after 9/11. It is about being adaptable to the situation and responding to it effectively.
Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.

Famous truth from John Adams which I think Obama may be coming around to. He has essentially realized when it comes to Israel, Hamas and Palestinians, the facts and events are so obvious that he cannot ignore them anymore.

The fact is that he hasn't brought a potential peace plan with him to Israel, essentially insinuated that military options with Iran will be used before they can get the bomb and has softened his stance (officially) on the origins of Israel and its Jewish Heritage when he said this today:

More than 3,000 years ago, the Jewish people lived here, tended the land here, prayed to God here.  And after centuries of exile and persecution, unparalleled in the history of man, the founding of the Jewish State of Israel was a rebirth, a redemption unlike any in history.

To me the fact that Obama has done an 'about turn' is a tremendous result for Israel and Bibi. If this visit does bring a new era of true cooperation between Israel and the Obama Administration that then means that Bibi was succesuful in standing up to the constant, disproportionate and vicious pressure from Obama and Hillary Clinton.

I stress that with Obama it is crucial that you look at the actual deeds and not his rhetoric. Nevertheless, one can hope for some change!!!!

Rick Perry at CPAC 2013.
If only this guy turned up in the 2012 elections! The Perry who campaigned was shambolic; this speech was proof that the Governor of Texas maybe heading back to the top.

Great speech in which he attacks McCain and Romney and talks about the changing demographics in America.

There is no doubt that this man will be running in 2016. Paul was speaking at CPAC 2013 and clearly laid out idea of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights being integral to a vibrant America. He echoed that in the following statement:
"We prize our Bill of Rights like no other country. Our Bill of Rights what defines us; it’s what makes us exceptional,To those who would dismiss this debate as frivolous, I say tell that to the heroic men and women who sacrificed their limbs and lives. Tell that to the 6,000 parents of kids who died as American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tell them the Bill of Rights is no big deal.”

America's Lieutenant Colonel, Allen West!!!!

CPAC 2013

"I’m speaking from experience when I tell you that there is nothing on this green earth that a liberal progressive fears more than a black American who wants a better life and a smaller government,”

Video below:

The idea is called America, and it still works!!!!

I wrote the following article on why people are scared of Marco Rubio back in Feb 2013.
Today Senator Rubio spoke at CPAC 2013 and wowed the crowd.
I have never heard such an eloquent portrayal of what Conservatism is all about since Ronald Reagan!

The line of the speech was as follows:
Now, as soon as I’m done speaking, I’ll tell you what the criticism on the Left is gonna be. Number one, that he drank too much water. Number two, that he didn’t offer new ideas, and there’s the fallacy of it. We don’t a new idea. There is an idea. The idea is called America, and it still works.”

The future of America is bright with people like Rubio!
