On Meet the Press (MTP) this week (12/23), the NRA & Gun Control and the Fiscal Cliff were on the agenda.
Sen, Chuck Shumer (D-NY) was duelling with Lindsay Graham (R-SC) on the issues.
When the talks were moved to the Fiscal Cliff; I was mortified when Senator Schumer said this:
"DAVID GREGORY Meet the Press Host:
Gentlemen, I know we could talk about this indefinitely. But I want to move on. I've only got a few minutes left. I want to get to another seemingly intractable debate. And that's the fiscal cliff. Because Congress has left town, and there's no deal here. So Senator Schumer, the President's now proposing a smaller deal. Are we going to avoid the fiscal cliff by the first of the year or not?
SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER:
Well, I hope so. You know, if you look at the final positions last Monday of both the president and Speaker Boehner, they were this close, they were this close to a solution. The president was about $200 billion higher on revenues. Speaker Boehner, $200 billion higher on spending cuts.
Out of a $4 trillion budget, that doesn't seem insurmountable. So I hope they would keep talking. And my one bit of advice to Speaker Boehner is this: You cannot pass a bill with just Republicans. On a broad thing like this, you need both. And he has put himself with Plan B in sort of an impossible position. He has to get these hard right guys to go along with him.
If he were to say, and the president were to say, "We're going to pass a bill with a majority of Democrats and a majority of Republicans in the House and Senate," we could get a mainstream bill. Now, I know he's worried about his speakership. But what I've found in my 37 years in as a legislator is that when you show leadership, when you show real direction and courage, even people who disagree with you will vote for you for speaker. So I would urge Speaker Boehner to abandon this Plan B strategy and work on a bipartisan solution."
The statement from Schumer was unreal. Here is there same guy who had no problem with ramming through ObamaCare with no Republicans, but is lecturing the GOP on the importance of bipartisan legislation.
What annoyed me was that David Gregory let it pass completely. MTP prides itself on getting answers from the current political leaders. Former anchor, Tim Russert was notorious for challenging his guests and would bring up a quote or an article and ensure that the person wasn't misleading or dodging the question.
If Gregory had any journalistic standards, or cared about the Russert legacy, then he would've asked Schumer if HealthCare is less important than the Fiscal Cliff? if it isn't, then why the double standard here with your preaching to the GOP about the need for bipartisanship. Trust me, Schumer wouldn't have had a clue what to answer.
If that question would've been asked, then viewers would've seen through the talk from Schumer. On average 4 million viewers each week, drop into watch MTP. If they would've seen that answer from Gregory, then America would've been better off.
The corruption in the media lives on.

REMEMBER THIS?????? SEPTEMBER 11th 2012, Benghazi, Libya. Ambassador Stevens murdered by Al-Qaeda, not by an angry mob, or small time protesters.
So Ambassador Susan Rice decides not to be put forward as nominee for Secretary of State to replace Hillary Clinton.
In a letter to President Obama (12/13/12) she said:
“I am now convinced that the confirmation process would be lengthy disruptive and costly— to you and to our most pressing national and international priorities”.
Cue a list of intimidation and claims from the liberal media and Democrat lawmakers, who called the legitimate charges against Ambassador Rice as racist and sexist.
Let’s look at the facts for a second:
Ambassador Rice went on the record (5 times) in saying that Sept 11 Benghazi attacks were due to a publication of a movie, rather than terrorism: On Meet the Press 9/16/12 she said as follows:
“But let’s remember what has transpired over the last several days. This is a response to a hateful and offensive video that was widely disseminated throughout the Arab and Muslim world. Obviously, our view is that there is absolutely no excuse for violence and that-- what has happened is condemnable, but this is a-- a spontaneous reaction to a video, and it’s not dissimilar but, perhaps, on a slightly larger scale than what we have seen in the past with with the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.”
That turned out, as we all knew or know, to be completely false and she got found out.
It is quite simple really. She was misinformed by her boss and she got caught out trying to cover it up.
What bothers me with this administration is that when all else fails, they throw the race card or try to destroy and opponent.
Obama did it to Romney during the election with Bain; he is trying to do that with McCain, Graham & the GOP, who are questioning, legitimately the Benghazi issue.
However, I can show you another way that criticism can be handled and that is through integrity.
· Condoleezza Rice – National Security Director under George W. Bush, said that Iraq had WMD.
When she received criticism, did the GOP cry SEXISM?
· Colin Powell – Secretary of State under George W. Bush, went up to the United Nations and said that Saddam had WMD. He was criticized but you didn’t hear the GOP scream RACISM!
Trust in CNN has been on the wane for many a year. Their liberal, anti conservative stance has eroded their viewership. You only need to see who their main people are:
- Soledad O'Brien who may as well wear an Obama bumper sticker while on air.
- You then have Van Jones – former Obama Green Energy Czar and an ardent communist who is believes that George W Bush, not Al-Qaeda caused 9/11 .
Those are just a few to mention. Maybe next in line is Piers Morgan?
On January 2011 Piers Morgan (UK) took over from Larry King Live. his mission statement was to host a candid, in-depth newsmaker interview program on CNN.
Well………..from looking at his twitter account, are you really going to get candid, in-depth interviews?
Look at how he clutches to the sides of the Obama’s!
Can you imagine if there was such a picture of say, Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh caressing the sides of George and Laura Bush?
What's more is that the Christmas picture is actually the background on his twitter page.
What this goes to tell you is that he cannot be taken seriously to deliver such bold interviews and getting to the bottom of the issues. In any event from looking at the ratings the show is in big trouble.
In June 2012, it was reported that Piers Morgan Tonight had the lowest ratings for a CNN prime-time slot in 21 years. To garner a lower viewership than Larry King takes some doing.
If only he adopted the idea of asking real questions, instead of showboating around liberal celebrities and the President - maybe then we can take him seriously.
The final nail in the coffin is where he stated on his twitter account that he was gleeful about the Connecticut shooting, in which 26 people died, 20 of those were children.
One can only imagine what the media would say if the same one said by a conservative.
In any event, I can hardly see incoming CNN President, Jeff Zucker doing the honourable thing and firing Piers. That means that CNN really doesn't have an interest in reporting real news and seeking the truth in their programming. As a result CNN will continue to fall even further behind of FOX News, who dominate cable news in America.
Zucker may wish to learn from FOX, who after the 2012 election shelved Karl Rove and Dick Morris after they were way off in their predictions. The idea behind that was that FOX care about their viewers and the importance of accurate reporting.
CNN & Piers take note.
